Celeb cravings we love!
Pregnancy can do funny things to a woman. From unexpected and sudden body changes to morning sickness, the list of symptoms and signs is seemingly endless. But, for most women, the strangest thing they experience throughout pregnancy is a host of weird and wonderful cravings.
Cravings during pregnancy are normally due to hormonal changes which can make some foods seem more appetising, whilst others can, literally, turn a pregnant woman’s stomach. It is also thought that some women crave foods that contain levels of certain nutrients that their body may be lacking.
Of course, pregnant celebrities are just as prone to cravings as the rest of us – and they have confessed to some weird and wonderful urges (and some fairly normal ones too). Here’s a rundown of our favourite celeb pregnancy cravings.
Beyonce
During her pregnancy with daughter Blue Ivy, Beyonce was reported to have cravings for ketchup and had to have a bottle of the sauce to hand at every meal! In addition to this, it was suggested that she also enjoyed bananas with hot sauce and pickles – but the pop star denied that this was true. Now reportedly pregnant for the second time, cravings rumours have started to circulate once again, with the star reportedly spending a small fortune in a branch of Nandos.
Natalie Portman
Oscar-winning actress Natalie is normally a strict vegan but found herself craving eggs (mainly in the form of cakes and cookies!) during her pregnancy, telling a US radio show: “"I know there are people who do stay vegan," she said, "but I think you have to just be careful, watch your iron levels and your B12 levels, and supplement those if there are things you might be low in your diet." She remained vegetarian throughout her pregnancy though.
Mariah Carey
Pop Diva Mariah found herself craving proper home-cooked meals during her pregnancy with twins Monroe and Moroccan. But (rumour has it) to save her gaining too much weight, she would whip up the treats, have a small taste and then feed them to her husband Nick Cannon!
Adele
According to MadeforMums.com, songstress Adele couldn’t get enough of the classic British dish Shepherd’s Pie whilst pregnant with her little boy Angelo last year. Aside from food, Adele is also said to have had the urge to go line-dancing!
Miranda Kerr
Miranda, lingerie model and wife of Orlando Bloom, admitted cravings for oranges and tomatoes during her pregnancy with baby Flynn in 2011. These healthy urges are no doubt partly responsible for her snapping back into shape – she was back at work only a couple of months after giving birth.
Victoria Beckham
Posh Spice and mum-of-four Victoria is said to have enjoyed marmalade on toast and cups of tea during her fourth pregnancy with daughter Harper Seven.
Pink
When singer Pink was pregnant with her daughter Willow back in 2011, she revealed her cravings were for sour sweets, telling The Billy Bush Show: "Sour Patch Kids, or Sour Skittles, sour anything."
And whilst every mum-to-be knows that there are certain foods that should be avoided during pregnancy, what if those forbidden foods are the ones you find yourself craving? German Supermodel Claudia Schiffer is said to have turned to alcohol-free beer to quench her thirst during pregnancy whilst Baby Spice Emma Bunton had to quell her sushi cravings with the vegetarian version as raw fish is, of course, a massive no-no!
